Life Strategies of Socially Vulnerable Youth Groups

The article aims to identify features of the life strategies of socially vulnerable youth groups. The article is based on the data of sociological monitoring in 2024 in the Belgorod region using the online survey method, in which 5,847 people took part, regional youth aged 14-35, distributed according to quota criteria (age, gender, type of settlement). In the general array of respondents, a group of socially vulnerable youth was identified, numbering 725 people, which, in turn, was divided into single parents, parents raising disabled children, young people with disabilities or disabilities, graduates of orphanages, as well as groups associated with socially vulnerable groups (refugees, participants in socially vulnerable groups, family members of participants in socially vulnerable groups and those who lost loved ones in socially vulnerable groups). The article presents a comparative analysis of life dispositions and life planning of young people belonging to socially vulnerable groups and young people who are not included in them. The analysis revealed that life strategies of socially vulnerable youth groups have clearly defined features and, for a number of them, significant differences from conditionally prosperous youth groups were noted. Contradictions were found related to the fact that, despite obvious barriers diagnosed in most attitudes and life dispositions, the youth of socially vulnerable groups demonstrate inflated demands in life plans. It was found that the youth of socially vulnerable groups are more often focused on effective and socially significant life steps for the region, which makes them potentially significant in improving the quality of regional human capital. The most active and problematic groups of youth were identified: the most active in their life position and life aspirations were graduates of orphanages, parents of disabled children, young people with disabilities and participants of the secondary military education system; problematic can include young people with refugee status, young people receiving benefits due to low income and young people who have lost loved ones in the secondary military education system. The obtained results set additional tasks for regional authorities to ensure the implementation and support of life strategies of socially vulnerable groups of youth.
