Development of Cooperatives in the Villages of Udmurtia

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problems of the development of the cooperation in the rural area. The study is based on the empirical data of the survey conducted in rural area and aimed to reveal and measure social trust as social capital necessary for the development of the cooperation. The authors describe the ―supporting group‖ that forms financial ties within the rural area cooperative; this group is capable of designing the network of social trust and increasing capital. Upon the results of the study the author concludes that there is a perspective for the renewal and development of the cooperation in the villages of Udmurtia.
