Abstract

The article is devoted to the concept of the so-called compatriots, the concept, which is popular as in the post-soviet space, as in Russia. The author consistently argues that the supra-ethnic concept of the compatriots living abroad, created to describe civic community, ultimately gained the nationalist “ethnically Russian” meaning.
