The author restores the history of the foreign exchange market in our country during the first decades of the Soviet period. The author describes the rises and falls of foreign exchange, monetary reforms, specifics of the work of the government and financial bodies and links it to the analysis of foreign exchange twists and turns of the main characters of the Master and Margarita novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, which reflects difficult social and political changes in 1920-1930s.
