Abstract

The feature is devoted to the analysis of different meanings of the notion of modernization which holds the key position in modern Russian political discourse. The recognition of these meanings is important as each of them defines the range of problems and targets of the process of modernization. The modernization is determined by the author as critical self-assessment of the current state of the country and free self-determination of Russians as political nation. Finally, the modernization is understood as a means of self-construction of a nation and a guarantee for Russia’s future.
